Judgment, not syntax
My dad spent a lifetime learning how to understand and repair electronics. I spent mine learning how to build software. Talbot Tech exists to preserve that kind of practical knowledge and pass it on.
Talbot Tech is a publisher of practical knowledge: the kind people acquire through years of building, repairing, troubleshooting, and making mistakes. Our ambition is an independent technology-learning catalog in the spirit of the great technical publishers — beginning with software, and eventually expanding to other practitioners and other crafts.
Why judgment, not syntax
Most technical education explains tools and syntax. Talbot Tech explains judgment: how to frame a problem, decide what matters, recognize failure, recover from mistakes, and finish useful work. Tools change monthly. The judgment of people who have done the work is what's actually scarce — and it's what disappears if nobody writes it down.
How we work
- Real work. Demonstrations use actual projects and imperfect attempts. More workshop than classroom; more field guide than textbook.
- Practitioners only. Every title is taught by someone who has done the work for years — starting with Sean, and eventually others.
- Candor. Honest about early access, prerequisites, delivery dates, and the limits of AI. No fake testimonials, no manufactured scarcity, no income claims.
- Finished outcomes. Courses are organized around making something useful, not accumulating watch time.
What we refuse to become
Not an AI-news site. Not a library of shallow tool tutorials. Not a "become a developer overnight" offer. Not a neon-gradient, robot-filled AI aesthetic. And not a personality cult — Talbot Tech starts with Sean's experience, but it's built to outgrow any single instructor.
The founder
Sean Talbot has built full-stack web applications professionally since 2008 and worked with PHP since 2004. He has maintained legacy systems, built new platforms, taught a full-stack Laravel bootcamp, and helped run developer education and meetups in Louisville, Kentucky. Today he works with AI coding agents daily on production systems — which is exactly what he teaches.

The first course
